Shien (紫艶) was a former Japanese enka singer and AV actress. She was born in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture.
She started singing folk songs at the age of 2 years and 9 months, and won the Yoshimoto Enka Kayokyoku Championship at the age of 18.
Her debut single under the name Shien was “Shibuya no Neko” (Shibuya Cat) released in 2000. She attracted attention as a sexy enka singer, and won the Newcomer Award at the Japan Cable Awards in the same year.
On March 11, 2019, her mother, with whom she had been in contact almost every day, visited her home after not being able to contact her since March 7, and was found dead. It was reported that she had died alone due to illness. She was 41 years old. A forensic autopsy determined that the cause of death was illness, and it is believed that the cause was the large number of medications she had taken during her lifetime.
